I’m reaching out for some assistance with my XC330-M288 Dynamixel servo. While attempting to reflash the firmware (version V52), the serial port communication unexpectedly got interrupted. Right after the incident, the servo’s LED turned solid red and has stayed that way ever since.
Now, the servo is not being recognized by the Dynamixel Wizard—it doesn’t show up during scans and cannot be detected by any of the usual tools.
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or might have advice on the following:
• Manual Reset/Recovery: Is there a way to manually reset or recover the device?
• Recovery Mode: Does the servo have a recovery mode or a method to reinitialize the firmware/communication?
From my past experience with similar situations in the past, I used the U2D2 and Dynamixel Wizard to recover the firmware of this actuator:
- Power your XC-330 separately and assuming that you are using a U2D2.
- Set DXL Wizard to scan at ALL BAUD RATES to see if it can pick up the XC-330 at one of those baud rates. If it does not, then time to have it checked out by ROBOTIS via an RMA if your actuator is still under warranty. There is no way for end-users to reset the actuator directly on the actuator itself that I know of.
If one of those baud rates works, then when DXL Wizard asks you to reset power to the actuator, unplug/replug the DXL Cable to reset power, not the PS itself (as that process takes too long and the DXL Wizard will loose comm. with the actuator once again).
In the past, I had to try at least 4-5 times also.
